Cristiano Ronaldo signs new Real Madrid contract keeping him at Bernabeu until 2021

The Portugal international joins Gareth Bale in agreeing fresh terms, exactly a week on from the Welshman himself putting pen to paper .

The 31-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire in June 2018, but he looks likely to now stay in the Spanish capital for the remainder of his peak years thanks to the new five-year deal.

A statement on Madrid’s official website confirmed the news on Sunday evening, with an official ceremony to take place on Monday to mark the big announcement.

Ronaldo has scored 358 goals in seven years at Real since making a high-profile move from Manchester United for a then-record fee, helping Real to two Champions League titles and also lifting the La Liga on one occasion.
