Wayne Rooney turns down move to Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan in summer transfer window

Wayne Rooney, 31, has had questions raised over his future due to his failure to hold on to a starting role under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Beijing Guoan’s honorary chairman Luo Ning has revealed that they contacted Rooney in the summer regarding a potential transfer, but he rebuffed their offer as he wanted to stay at United.

“We indeed made an approach for Rooney at the beginning of the season but he’s informed us that he wants to stay in Manchester United,” Luo told Beijing show Sports Night Talks .

“Rooney says he’ll keep playing in the Premier League as long as his health allows. We even met with his agent (Paul Stratford).”
