The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola on October 9 but may have to do so without the services of the 23-year-old Mainz defender after he suffered a suspected hamstring injury.
Balogun was injured very early for his club, FSV Mainz’s game against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany’s Bundesliga on Saturday.
He was replaced after only nine minutes by Alexander Hack following an injury he sustained just minutes after kick off.
It is still not clear what the nature of the injury is or how long the centre half will be ruled out of action.
The FSV Mainz twitter account highlighted the injury but also failed to be specific on the length of time he will be side lined.
Balogun has been capped four times by Nigeria at senior level.
