Davis Love III will lead the hosts’ bid to end Europe’s recent dominance of the event, with the USA having last prevailed in 2008.
Europe’s team contains six rookies, leading many to rate the red team as clear favourites for victory – a sentiment North – who featured at the 1985 event – agrees with.

“I really do see the US as favourites,” the EPSN golf analyst and reporter told Omnisport.

“The way the team has come together, you’ve got a couple of young players like [Brooks] Koepka, who hasn’t been there before but should do well. He has played well in some big tournaments this year.

“I think the biggest thing that the US team has got going for them this year is that Dustin Johnson wasn’t there the last time and he is playing as well, or better, than anyone in the world right now.

“I’m going to tell you that our guys are going to win every time probably, but I think it is a really good chance and there are two or three guys in the European team who have played a big part in their wins that are not going to be there this time.

“They are replaced by really good young players, but you don’t know how players are going to react. I do like our team and I think they’ll play well.”
