Gennady Golovkin believes Canelo Alvarez will need to change his style if he is to have any hope of beating him in the rematch. Alvarez and Golovkin go to war for the second time on September 15 after a controversial draw a year ago. Since then more controversy has hit the contest as Alvarez failed two drug tests in February and then cancelled the scheduled May 5 rematch.
Golovin was furious with Alvarez’s conduct, but managed to come to new terms with the Mexican’s team on the re-scheduled rematch. And with the WBA (Super), WBC, and IBO middleweight champion the favourite to claim victory, Golovkin warned Alvarez he is in a comfortable position. ‘I’m expecting a fight with more contact because that’s what people have been asking for a long time, so I’m ready to exchange punches until the end,’ Golovin said.
