The fans moan all through the summer transfer window wondering if their manager would sign players. Then they play the first game of the season (at home) and lose. Their manager panics and spends the cash. And the team gradually improves on that opening day defeat, going on a winning run and everyone is happy.
Isn’t this typical Arsenal?
The opening day defeat to Liverpool looks a distant past now with Arsenal on a five game winning streak and with home games against Swansea and Sunderland to come in October, things are looking up North for the Gunners. Arsenal fans are happy and dreaming of the title already.
Mustafi – Koscielny have formed a somewhat symbiotic understanding but early references to the Championship winning pairing of Rio Ferdinand – Nemanja Vidic are disrespectful at best.
Walcott has started the season in fine form, Alex Iwobi deserves a mention too and of course Sanchez can’t be left out. Worthy mentions include Bellerin, Carzola and just about the rest of them.
Credit to Arsene Wenger. He celebrated his 20th anniversary in charge of Arsenal on October 1. He’s in his last year of his current contract. No one really knows when he’ll leave but wouldn’t it be great if this totally perverse, intelligent, difficult and sometimes frustrating Frenchman bow out with the league title?
