Manchester United duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo escape retrospective punishment from FA

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was accused of elbowing Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye – an incident that was not seen by the referee at the time in Wednesday’s 2-1 Premier League victory at Selhurst Park.

However, three former elite referees did not unanimously agree that the incident was worthy of a retrospective red card, meaning that the Swede – who scored a late winner for the Red Devils – will not miss any game time.

Marcos Rojo, meanwhile, was shown a yellow card by referee Craig Pawson following a two-footed challenge on Wilfried Zaha but could not have that upgraded to a red card due to the incident being dealt with at the time.

Rojo’s tackle came just 10 days after a similar challenge on Everton’s Idrissa Gueye, neither of which the midfielder saw red for.
