Marco Verratti rejects offer from PSG worth €12m a year

According to Mediaset, The Italy international took a break from his holiday to travel to Paris to meet with Paris Saint-Germain’s owners, who reportedly offered him a juicy new wage rise which would have taken his salary up to 12 million euros per season.

He met with the president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the sporting director Antero Henrique and they both insisted that even if he doesn’t accept the new terms he has a contract until 2021 and will not be allowed to leave.

Meanwhile, Barça are still hopeful. They are grateful for Verratti’s moves to agitate for a transfer and force a move this summer.

July 4 is when he’s due back in Paris for pre-season, but Verratti may decide not turn up if there is still no resolution by then in a bid to crank up the pressure.
