Wayne Rooney to wear number 10 shirt for Everton next season

The 31-year-old wore number ’10’ shirt during the majority of his Manchester United career, and he will continue with that number at Everton as Romelu Lukaku, who had previously worn that shirt, prepares to move in the opposite direction.

The England international completed an emotional return to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, with Rooney signing a two-year contract with the club that he left for Man United in 2004.

Rooney burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old with Everton in 2002, making 77 appearances and scoring 17 goals for the Merseyside club before joining Man United, where he scored 253 goals in 559 appearances.
