Manchester City, AS Monaco reach agreement over transfer of defender Benjamin Mendy

According to Sky Sports News , Monaco have accepted a bid in excess of £51m for the French international, who was part of a team who won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.

Last summer, he cost Monaco just over £5m but in 34 appearances since his arrival at Stade Louis II, he has established himself as one of most highly-rated full-backs in Europe.

After City agreed to sell Aleksandar Kolarov to Roma, Pep Guardiola was left in the position of having no recognised left-back in his first-team squad.
