Arsenal’s Lucas Pérez joins Deportivo on season-long loan deal with an option to buy

Perez moved to the Emirates from Deportivo a year ago for a reported fee of aropund £13m but enjoyed a frustrating first season in the Premier League, making just 11 appearances as he failed to oust the likes of Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order.

The lack of game time led the 28-year-old forward to request to leave the club this summer, prompting interest from a number of clubs across Europe, as well as Everton and Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Deportivo were understood to have had at least one bid for Perez rejected as the Gunners were insistent on at least recouping their fee, but both parties have now agreed terms on a temporary switch.

During his two seasons with Depor, Perez scored 24 times in 58 La Liga appearances.
