Frank Lampard provided some positive news regarding Chelsea wonderkid Callum Hudson-Odoi during his pre-Manchester United press conference.
But it wasn’t to do with the teenager’s contract situation.
The winger’s current deal with the west London outfit expires in less than 12 months and has been the subject of interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the past two transfer windows.
In fact, they have rejected several bids from the German outfit and talks with the teenager are progressing well judging by the numerous hints and teases on social media in recent weeks.
However, Lampard has revealed there’s been no update over those contract discussions.
“No, on Callum there’s not,” Lampard told reporters. “The clubs are talking. We want him to stay, I want him to stay.
“We hope Callum stays, simple as that.”
But Lampard did have some good news regarding Hudson-Odoi.
“The better news is that he’s working hard on his fitness and is back out on the pitch,” Lampard added.
“So from my point of view right now that’s the really good news and, of course, as a club we’d like that to be longer term.”
