Man City to rest Joe Hart for Capital One Cup semi-final against Everton

Joe Hart will be rested for the semi-final second leg against Everton on Wednesday, with Manchester City trailing 2-1 from the first leg.

“Willy Caballero will probably start the next two games,” manager Manuel Pellegrini told reporters. “One of the important reasons why Joe Hart improves a lot is because he has competition. Willy deserves to play these games.”

Pellegrini also provided an update on the fitness of Vincent Kompany, who is expected to return in a “couple of weeks”.

The Belgium international has not played since Boxing Day when he suffered a calf injury.

I think Vincent Kompany will return in a couple of weeks,” Pellegrini told reporters. “We are doing all we can, sending him to different places and doctors to try and make sure it doesn’t happen because it is very sad for him not to play.”
