Middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin has claimed he broke the ribs of Britain’s George Groves during a sparring session.
“For me it was a very easy spar,” the Kazakh said. “I broke his ribs I think, and his corner just said ‘Okay, it’s finished, stop’.”

Golovkin described Groves as a “good boxer”, but said he “needs more power”.

Groves faces Andrea Di Luisa at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday in his first outing since his third unsuccessful world-title fight, against Badou Jack in September.
