There was great anticipation for whom Tiger Woods would add to his roster of Presidents Cup team members with four captain’s picks Thursday night. Woods delivered the first three confidently, and the final one in unexpected manner: third-person.
Woods chose Tony Finau, Patrick Reed and Gary Woodland as his first three picks, leaving just one more spot on the 12-man team. Finau is known for his consistency, Reed for his fiery nature and Woodland for breaking out at the U.S. Open this summer. The last pick, Tiger Woods himself, is known perhaps as being the greatest golfer of all-time. Oh, and one of the most recent winners on the PGA Tour.
“As captain, I’m going to choose Tiger Woods as the last player on the team,” Woods said during the Golf Channel broadcast. “He’s made, what, nine Cups? He’s played in Australia twice in the Presidents Cup. So this will be his third appearance there as a player. And uh, I find it interesting I’m talking in third-person.”
