Edmund suffers defeat to Gasquet in European Open semi-finals to miss out on first appearance in ATP Tour final

Kyle Edmund has been in superb form in Antwerp and it appeared that he would breeze into Sunday’s final after moving into a set advantage against the Frenchman.

The British number two also established a 4-2 lead in the second but he was unable to capitalise on his opportunity as Richard Gasquet rallied to win five of the next six games to take the match into a decider.

It was one-way traffic from here as Gasquet broke Edmund’s serve on two occasions to wrap up a 3-6 7-5 6–2 triumph to avenge his defeat to the 21-year-old at this year’s US Open.
